Forklift tire daily inspection and replacement standard reference(figure1)

Electric forklifts are commonly used handling equipment in factory and storage scenarios. The running state of tires directly affects the stability of operations, the safety of operators, and the overall service life of the equipment. Many front-line operation and maintenance personnel easily neglect the regular investigation of tires. Long-term accumulation of small hidden dangers can easily lead to driving sideslip, abnormal wear and tear of surrounding components, etc. Mastering a standardized daily inspection process and clear replacement judgment standards is a very important basic link in forklift operation and maintenance.

The daily inspection process can be gradually advanced according to the logic of layered investigation. The first is the visual inspection of the appearance of the transfer before the shift. Before each start of equipment operation, the operation and maintenance personnel can go around the car to check whether the tire surface is embedded with sharp foreign objects such as metal debris, gravel, and broken glass. If such foreign objects are not cleaned up in time, repeated rolling for a long time will gradually puncture the tread structure, slowly causing problems such as slow deflation and tread cracking. At the same time, it is necessary to focus on checking whether there are cracks and bulges caused by bumps in the position of the tire wall, especially forklifts that frequently turn in narrow passages. The tire wall is easy to rub against the ground bulge and the curb. This part of the area is often overlooked and needs to be carefully checked one by one.

The second is to regularly check the tire pressure. Don't judge the tire pressure status just by the touch of hand pressure. According to the standard tire pressure value of the corresponding specification tire, use a professional tire pressure meter to check regularly. Too high tire pressure will cause excessive wear in the middle of the tread, significantly reduce the tire cushioning performance, become more bumpy, and damage the axle structure. If the tire pressure is too low, it will cause the tire side to repeatedly bend and deform, accelerate the aging of the rubber layer, increase driving resistance, and consume additional forklift battery power. It is recommended to complete the full tire pressure verification at least once a week in ordinary operation scenarios. High-frequency operation scenarios can appropriately improve the detection frequency.

The third is to regularly measure the degree of wear, using a special depth ruler to regularly measure the remaining depth of the tread pattern. There are significant differences in tire wear rates in different operating scenarios. It is necessary to make regular measurement records, and pay attention to the wear uniformity of the front and rear wheels. If the wear rate of one-sided tires is significantly faster than that of other tires, it is necessary to promptly check the wheel axis positioning deviation to avoid the problem of partial wear and further shorten the service life of tires.

Regarding the reference standard for tire replacement, the first is that if the wear threshold is up to standard, it needs to be replaced. When the remaining depth of the tread pattern is lower than the specified minimum limit, even if the tire is not obviously damaged, it should be replaced in time. Otherwise, the grip of the tire operating on slippery ground will be greatly reduced, and the braking distance will be significantly longer, which is easy to cause the risk of slipping and rollover. Secondly, the structural damage needs to be replaced directly. When the tread has a penetrating crack with a length of more than 1 cm, the tire wall has an unrepairable bulge, a crack with a length of more than 2 cm, or a large area of the tire surface falls off, and the overall aging and embrittlement of the rubber cannot continue to be repaired. It is necessary to replace the new tire directly to avoid a safety accident caused by a sudden tire burst In addition, it should be noted that the two tires of the same axis should ensure that the specifications and wear degree are as close as possible, and do not mix the tires with the old and new tires on the same shaft to avoid uneven grip affecting the driving stability.

Doing a good job in the daily inspection and replacement of tires does not require excessive maintenance costs, but it can effectively reduce the failure rate of electric forklifts, reduce unnecessary component losses, and ensure the smooth and orderly operation of the handling operation in the factory.
